In this Stylist Spotlight, we talked with Alex Glander, @kaelinalexandria, to talk about her career and her business.
Hey Alex! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’ve lived in Northwest Arkansas most of my life, and I love that I can call a small town in Arkansas home. I married Chance, the literal LOML, in March and we have two dogs, Mila and Charlie! We live in the tiny town of Winslow, and it’s quite a trek to Rogers every day, but it is so worth it! When I am not in the salon I love to spend my free time with my family or watching football. Football season is my favorite season, along with sweaters and sitting around a nice warm fire!
Tell us about your career as a hairstylist.
I have been in the industry for about 2 years! Before cosmetology school, I went to ATU and UAFS to obtain my associate’s degree then I decided to fulfill my lifelong dream of being a stylist! That was by far the best decision I could’ve made for myself. I never knew what kind of passion and drive I would have for this career and I am so thankful for the opportunities that @salonhross has given me as well as the support for constantly wanting to achieve bigger and better things! I think that having the drive and an unwavering passion for what you do really determines the amount of success you get from something, and man, am I passionate about hair. I love it all, although I am pretty partial towards extensions and styling.
Can you tell us why you do hand-tied extensions – and why do you use our hair?
I chose handtied extensions because of the rising popularity and the demand in this area! I knew I wanted to offer extensions, but I never really knew where handtied would take me! Also, I really wanted to stand out and succeed at the beginning of my career, while managing to make a name for myself! There is nothing like seeing that instant boost of confidence your client gets when seeing their new hair for the first time. I never thought I would be achieving 5-year goals that I made in cosmetology school only 2 years in, and a big player in me achieving those goals is handtied extensions!
I chose to use Harper Ellis Hair Co. because of the quality and the amazing staff! It makes a difference when you get the whole package from a company! Also, HEHC is an Arkansas rooted company and I love that I can get such amazing hair in the comfort of what is technically my backyard!
