Whether that was on social media, in person with my clients, or networking out and about, I wanted to make sure that my company and my services felt high end and luxurious. I wanted clients to look at my Instagram and think, “I would LOVE for her to do my hair.” 

You know that I’m all about investing real money into your education and career, but there are also a few things you can do FOR FREE that will take your career to the next level! 

Update Your Instagram Bio

You can do this RIGHT NOW! We have an entire blog post on this, but here’s a little recap of things you can do to update your bio:

• Make sure you specify your location!

• List your specialities like hand-tied hair extensions, lived-in color, curly cuts, etc.

• Check your link and make it easy to book with you!

• Show yourself every now and then! People want to see and connect with you!

Make Time for Better Photos

I know how this can go, especially on a busy day behind the chair! It’s tough to remember to take a before photo or have the energy for great after photos, but it’s SO important! Here are my top three tips for getting better hair photos:

1. Find the light! Today, pay attention to the light in your salon. Is there a particular spot that gets great natural light in the morning? Make mental notes, and don’t be afraid to walk outside to see if there are some nice spaces just outside of your building!

2. Invest in a Ring Light! A ring light is an easy to get nice lighting on your work any time of day. They’re also super helpful if it’s rainy or if your salon doesn’t get great natural light. Remember, natural light is always best for the most eye-catching photos, but a ring light can always help!

3. Use the free Lightroom app! This is my favorite app to edit in, and if you purchase our Harper Ellis presets, you can apply those on your phone! I always like to adjust the exposure, contrast, shadows, and highlights on my photos!

Raise Your Prices
